What's new at SBL?
Ross Hewitt: SBL President
So, it's a new bowling season and there's lots of good stuff going on this year with SBL. I think one of the most exciting things, this year, is the change of venue, from Chelsea Piers and 300 to Port Authority's Leisure Time Bowl. Leisure Time Bowl is located at 41st Street and 9th Avenue. If you would like to check out their website, simply CLICK HERE and you will be taken to their website, where you can learn all about what they have to offer us this year.

Important League Information.
Ellen Aronoff; SBL Vice President
As the bowling season kicks off this year on September 7th with our "No Tap Bowl", we are going to have two very important meetings directly preceding the night's bowling.

At 7:00pm on 9/07/08, we are asking ALL CAPTAINS to group in the lounge reception area of Leisure Time to go over some of the new policies for this year. Here, we will distribute the Team Roster Sheets so that you can sign up everyone on your team. This should last approximately 30 minutes.

Directly following the captain's meeting, at 7:30pm, we will be hosting a "Welcome To SBL" session for ALL NEW BOWLERS and people interested in joining the league. We encourage all newcomers to SBL to attend this meeting so we will be able to go over league rules and general league etiquette. We have had a great amount of interest in the league this year and we would like to welcome you to our league appropriately. Please make every effort to be at this meeting.

What's happening with lockers?
Ross Hewitt; SBL President
This is something that is very important to all of us. There are a very limited number of lockers available this year. To ensure that you receive one, please contact Ross Hewitt as soon as you can to make sure that you get one!

SBL Website - Mobile Ready!
Jeffrey Bonacci; SBL Secretaryiphone
Ok, this is news we are really excited about. This year, we have a completely new website! You can turn your web browser to http://www.sblnyc.com and take a look for yourself. In addition to the website being up and online, for all of you that have those snazzy new internet phones, it is also mobile accessible! Good news! You will be able to get up-to-the-minute events as well as other SBL news at any time simply by checking the site.

Want to make sure you've paid? Use PayPal!
Rafael Rodriguez; SBL Treasurer
The good news is, for the first time, you will be able to pay all of your bowling dues on the website through our affilitation with PayPal. On the website, you will see a section that says "League Fees". All you have to do is go there, pick which option you want to pay for and add it to your PayPal cart automatically. You should then be directed to where you can put in your pay information, whether that is your credit card or it is your registered PayPal account. We ask that if you are going to use the PayPal services to pay for your bowling, you print out a receipt of payment when you complete your purchase and put that receipt into your team's envelope the night you bowl.

Coming Soon - Yes, we have finally made it easy for you to find and book a substitute bowler! After the initial week of bowling, when everyone has officially registered with SBL, we will have a spot specifically dedicated to emailing the people you would like to have as substitutes. All you will have to do is pick their name in the list and you will be directed to a page where you can type them a "Request To Substitute" email directly from the site. No more worrying about your team being shorthanded. We are trying to make this as easy as possible for you.

Let's make this year count!

SBL Executive Committee
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome our returning bowlers as well as the new faces that will be around this 2008/2009 season. It is with much excitement that we enter into another year with Sunday Bowling League. You are what makes this possible and we would like to officially say "Thank-you" to all of you. The entire Executive Committee will be personally stopping by during the "No Tap" to welcome each and every one of you this year.

Let's make this the best season ever for Sunday Bowling League!

Fees
Remember, you need to have all of your dues in by September 14th. Those dues consist of $20 for SBL Entry Fee and $90 for the last 3 weeks of bowling (at $30 per week.) Total amount due by 9/14/08 is $110.00.

In addition to the fees for SBL, you will also need to have the $19 USBC Sanction Fee. This fee will be paid separately to the League Secretary either by providing a credit card number on the Sanction Card Entry Form, by personal check made out to NYC USBC Association or by cash. The League Secretary will issue receipts for you when you pay. Deadline for the USBC Sanction Fee is 10/19/08.

SBL Calendar
This year, we have a calendar that you will be able to check at any time. All you have to do is CLICK HERE and you will be directed to the area of our new website where you will be able to keep tabs on all of the activities that SBL is planning this year.

As the year progresses, we will be posting other bowling events that you may or may not want to participate in with our bowling affiliate IGBO. Please check this calendar often, as things will change.

Ross' Tip DuJour
Every month, our league President, Ross Hewitt, will post something in this very spot about how you can "Up Your Game". Look for these great tidbits in upcoming emails.
